The tools

The fuel range calculator and the other tools work entirely in your browser. The figures you type in are not sent to us or stored anywhere.

Weather forecasts

When a trip in the tour planner is within nine days, the planner asks our server for a forecast at each day's finish point, rounded to about a kilometre. Our server passes that position to MET Norway, the Norwegian weather service, and keeps the forecast for a few hours so the next request is quicker. It does not store your IP address or link the position to you, and MET Norway never sees your IP address.

Cookies

We do not set cookies for tracking or advertising.

Fonts

Our pages load the Schibsted Grotesk font from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches the font, Google receives your IP address, as with any web request. Google's privacy policy explains how it handles this.

The ride brief

Sign-ups for our monthly email are not open yet, and nothing typed into the sign-up box is saved. When sign-ups open, this page will explain which email provider we use, what we store and how to unsubscribe.

Links to other sites

Our pages link to ferry operators, accommodation search sites and insurers. When you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. Links marked "Affiliate link" carry an identifier so the company knows the visit came from us and can pay us a commission if you book. That company may set its own cookies to record this. We do not receive your name, payment details or anything else you type on their site.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email us and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
