Ferry and tunnel crossings from the UK for motorcycles

The main crossings from Britain to the continent, Ireland and the Isle of Man, grouped by where you land. Every operator takes motorcycles. We do not show prices or sailing times, because they change: book with the operator.

Checked November 2026. Operators add and drop routes, so check the operator's own site for the current timetable. If something here is out of date, tell us.

Riding on and off

  • Book the bike as a motorcycle, not a car. It is usually cheaper and you load in the bike lane.
  • Car decks can be wet, oily and ridged. Ride on and off slowly and keep your feet ready.
  • Follow the crew's instructions for strapping the bike. Some operators supply straps, some ask you to help.
  • Take what you need for the crossing off the bike before you go up. You cannot usually return to the car deck while at sea.

Cover for the trip

Before you book the crossing, check your bike insurance, travel insurance and breakdown cover all work abroad on a motorcycle. Our guide to insurance and breakdown cover for touring abroad lists what to check in each.

Routes from the ports

Our ferry port loops start where the boat or train lands, from Calais into the Ardennes, Caen around Normandy, Dieppe along the Alabaster Coast and Hook of Holland to the Eifel and Mosel. Before you go, read our list of official pages to check for riding in Europe.
